How do photographic images order our world and steer our perception? This question is pursued by the approximately fifty selected international photographic stances presented by the German/English catalogue with numerous color illustrations.

Besides short texts on the individual artists and introductions by Tobias Berger and Esther Ruelfs, three essays comprise the theoretical framework: the media scholar Kathrin Peters devotes herself to the theme of appropriation as an artistic strategy in times of digital archives, the cultural scholar Tom Holert deals with the contact zone between artistic and photojournalistic stances on war. Wolfgang Tillmans and Esther Ruelfs discuss the subject of “Images Recalled” in a conversation.
